The College’s undergraduate education programs all lead to teaching licensure. These programs are designed to engage students in developing the knowledge, skills and dispositions required to meet the challenges and experience the rewards of the classroom. With state and national leaders in teacher preparation among our faculty, we boast highly regarded teacher preparation and field experience programs that support student learning through mentored involvement in classrooms at all grade levels. In addition, our partnership programs with local schools offer students even more opportunities to work with children and teachers in public school settings.

The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education teacher and administrator preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Our counselor education programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP) and the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE).

The Department of Human and Consumer Sciences Education prepares individuals within a community of students, faculty, and professionals to advocate for consumer well-being. This is accomplished through the development of a life-long learning perspective that values mentoring, ethical leadership, social responsibility, and the ability to adapt to an ever changing diverse global environment.

We serve 2,100 undergraduate and 800 graduate students who are committed to learning and who believe the future depends on lifelong learners who are informed, responsible practitioners and human service professionals. If you share our commitment, we welcome you to join our evolving learning community.
