The Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Programs
The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has conferred accreditation to the following program areas in Counselor Education at Ohio University: Community Counseling (M.Ed.), School Counseling (M.Ed.), and the Ph.D. program in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Council on Rehabilitation Education
The Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) has conferred accreditation on the M.Ed. Rehabilitation program. The accreditation process promotes the effective delivery of rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities
All College of Education programs, including Counselor Education, are also accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). As a result, graduates are able to fulfill the requirements for state licensure and national certifications in a shorter time following graduation. In addition, the program is also approved as meeting all requirements for state licensure through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board (PC/PCC) and the State Department of Education for school counseling.
