The Adolescent-to-Young Adult programs lead to licensure in grades 7-12 in the areas listed below.

Integrated Language Arts

Integrated Mathematics

Family and Consumer Sciences Education
The Family and Consumer Sciences program prepares candidates to teach all areas for the Career-Technical license grades 4 - 12. The program of study includes courses in child and family studies, nutrition with science, retail merchandising and consumer/resource management, and interior architecture. Reading Endorsement
Any student who may be registered in one of four programs of study (Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescent/Young Adult, and Special Education) may add a reading endorsement to his/her license to teach reading in K -12, inclusive. Click HERE to view the program information sheet.

Graduate
Formerly known as "Secondary Education," Adolescent to Young Adult (AYA) programs prepare students for an initial teaching license for grades 7 - 12, in junior or senior high schools. Programs are content-specific. Applicants may choose one of the following:

Integrated Language Arts
Integrated Mathematics
Integrated Sciences
Earth Sciences
Life Sciences
Physical Sciences (Chemistry and Physics)
Integrated Social Studies

The Master's program in Adolescent-to-Young Adult (AYA) education leading to licensure recognizes and reflects both national and state trends that provide alternative routes to teacher licensure. The program permits the student to receive a master's degree and complete teacher licensure requirements at the graduate level. It recognizes that post-baccalaureate students often have background experience relevant to the classroom and therefore can profit from graduate study leading to licensure rather than enrolling in an undergraduate licensure program. The Advanced Master's program for teachers who already hold a teaching license is not currently accepting applications.
