Early Childhood
Student teacher at Plains Elem

The Early Childhood Education
program leads to licensure to teach
in preschool through grade 3.

Undergraduate Only
The Early Childhood Education program is Nationally Recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Early Childhood Education program, leading to licensure in preschool through grade 3, is jointly offered by the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Services. The degree that is awarded upon graduation is a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) and is awarded by both the College of Education and the College of Health and Human Services. In order to evenly distribute enrollment between the two colleges, students have been assigned to a college solely for administrative purposes. College assignment has no impact on degree awarded, teaching license earned, program requirements, services offered, nor advisor assignment. Early Childhood students must meet the criteria for selective admissions before they can be admitted to the Early Childhood Program. Applications will be accepted at the end of the spring quarter of the freshman year. For details, see page 131 of the 2006-2008 Undergraduate Catalog.
