Professional development to prepare mathematics teachers for four years of high school mathematics for all students |
Advanced Teacher Capacity offers professional development in mathematics, statistics, and modeling for mathematics teachers in Grades 9-12. The project is funded by a grant from the Improving Teacher Quality Program administered by the Ohio Board of Regents. The ATC project will offer two programs during summer 2013, each with follow-up during the 2013-2014 school year:

Modeling and Spatial Reasoning 2013 begins at Ohio University in Athens with a 2-week institute for residential and commuter participants, July 8-12 and 15-19, 2013. The Modspar program focuses on discrete and continuous modeling, geometric modeling, and spatial reasoning.

Quantifying Uncertainty and Analyzing Numerical Trends 2013 begins at Ohio University in Athens with a 2-week institute for residential and commuter participants, June 17-21 and 24-28, 2013. QUANT focuses on data analysis, probability, and statistics.

Applications for the 2013 QUANT and Modspar programs will be accepted through May 31 for QUANT and June 14 for Modspar.

The total estimated costs for the 2013-2014 ATC project are $320,689, which includes a $179,625 grant of federal funds from the Improving Teacher Quality Program administered by the Ohio Board of Regents, covering approximately 56% of the total costs.
