Grover Center 115W, Ohio University, Athens, OH 45701-2979
The CAT Research Symposium, which is for pre-service and in-service mathematics and science teachers in Grades 7-12, involved approximately 70 participants, including teachers and other school personnel throughout Appalachian Ohio as well as students and professors from Marietta College, Muskingum University, Ohio University and its regional campuses, Shawnee State University, Southern State Community College, and the University of Rio Grande. The symposium focused on mathematics, science, and technology education. The keynote speaker, Mike Smith, is a master science teacher from Big Walnut High School, who has expanded his school's physics program from 5 students to 5 physics classes—through active student engagement in doing science. Mr. Smith is a national instructor for the Teachers Teaching with Technology program and a national event coordinator for the Science Olympiad. His keynote address was followed by CAT scholar presentations and other contributed presentations. To view the CAT Research Symposium schedule, click here.
The CAT team wishes to thank the symposium speakers, volunteers, participants, and our partner institutions: Marietta College, Muskingum University, Shawnee State University, and the University of Rio Grande. We also wish to express our thanks to the Choose Ohio First Scholarship Program administered by the Ohio Board of Regents.
