Public school teachers and The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education faculty and administrators met with Senator George Voinovich, Congressman Zach Space and Congressman Charlie Wilson to showcase the coe’s many accomplishments including the STEAM project, SEOCEMS, the Better Mathematics through Literacy program and a variety of other successes.

“We were honored to be able to share the coe’s accomplishments with our congressional delegation and to have had the opportunity to bring public school teachers from the Appalachian region to talk about the successes of their programs in the classroom” said Dean Renée Middleton of the trip. “This meeting was highly beneficial to The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education.”

In addition to showcasing the coe’s accomplishments, attendees got the latest updates on the No Child Left Behind Act, the Higher Education Act and education funding.

AACTE’s Department of Government and External Relations monitors current education policy at the federal and state level and serves as an advocate for the teacher education community.
