During Fall 2012, The Patton College hosted a panel discussion on the topic of Injection Wells and Hydraulic Fracturing. The panelists were informative, and the discussion was enlightening. A second, follow-up Q&A panel and discussion has been planned so that conversations on the topic can continue. All are welcome to attend! Induced hydraulic fracturing, commonly known as fracking, is a technique used to release and extract petroleum and natural gasthrough the propagation of fractures in a rock layer using a pressurized fluid. Fracking has been the subject of considerable debate as proponents argue for the economic benefits and opponents cite the negative impact on the environment and our very quality of life.
