This new book, which is still in "final production," focuses on poverty and its effects on education and development in varying regions of the world. The first section addresses the effect poverty has on the everyday lives of people in Africa, raising arguments that challenge the status quo. The second section centers on poverty in relation to gender, exploring how a lack of education and equality for females can impact a nation's poverty level. The last section of the book investigates the effects of globalization on females. The authors argue that globalization negatively impacts females despite literature suggesting otherwise. |

"To be conscious in the 21st century is to be aware of an array of challenges facing various regions in Africa. [...] That is why this book is such an important resource for educators. It provides insight into a body of literature that illuminates issues within Africa by creating emotional connections and bonds between the reader and the Other. In so doing, it provides educators with tools to become agents of profound social change." Foreword, Allan Stratton, Award-Winning Author and Playwright, University of Toronto. |
