POVERTY, EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Editors Francis E. Godwyll, Assistant Professor of Educational Studies, and So Young Kang
This new book, which is still in "final production," focuses on poverty and its effects on education and development in varying regions of the world. The first section addresses the effect poverty has on the everyday lives of people in Africa, raising arguments that challenge the status quo. The second section centers on poverty in relation to gender, exploring how a lack of education and equality for females can impact a nation's poverty level. The last section of the book investigates the effects of globalization on females. The authors argue that globalization negatively impacts females despite literature suggesting otherwise.

Thinking About Schools
THINKING ABOUT SCHOOLS
New Theories and Innovative Practices

By Aimee Howley, Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Studies, and Craig Howley, Co-Director ACCLAIM and Adjunct Associate Professor

"This book occupies the middle ground between practice and theory, where educators think about their work. We offer theory as a way to examine practice, both the routine events taking place at a particulr school or district and the wider political events that shape school routines. But as we explain in Chapter 2, just any old theory will not do." Preface, Thinking About Schools: New Theories and Innovative Practices.

Teaching Science for all Children
TEACHING SCIENCE FOR ALL CHILDREN
An Inquiry Approach

By Ralph Martin, Professor, Teacher Education, Colleen Sexton, and Teresa Franklin, Professor, Educational Studies
"Our mission is to help you understand the importance of teaching in ways that learners prefer to learn and to help you use the National Science Education Standards (NSES) and National Education Technology Standards (NETS) in effective and natural ways so that you can help all your learners excel in learning science and benefitting from it. The textbook will help you to do this in a seamless way, with interactive pedagogy and multimedia features." Preface, Teaching Science for All Children: An Inquiry Approach, 5th edition.

Exploring African Life and Literature
EXPLORING AFRICAN LIFE AND LITERATURE
Novel Guides to Promote Socially Responsive Learning

Editors Linda J. Rice, Associate Dean for Outreach and Undergraduate Studies, and Jacqueline N. Glasgow

"To be conscious in the 21st century is to be aware of an array of challenges facing various regions in Africa. [...] That is why this book is such an important resource for educators. It provides insight into a body of literature that illuminates issues within Africa by creating emotional connections and bonds between the reader and the Other. In so doing, it provides educators with tools to become agents of profound social change." Foreword, Allan Stratton, Award-Winning Author and Playwright, University of Toronto.

The Education of Diverse Student Populations
THE EDUCATION OF DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATIONS
A Global Perspective

Editor Guofang Wan, Professor, Teacher Education

"Finally, a book that examines the challenges facing today's educators. The Educations of Diverse Student Populations: A Global Perspective answers the question of how to cultivate a learning environment for culturally and linguistically diverse students. This book will encourage both inservice and preservice teachers to value the differences that each culture brings to the classroom and view this diversity as an opportunity for teaching and learning with a global focus." Dr. Rosalyn Anstine Templeton, Executive Dean, The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education and Human Services, Marshall University.
