Sherry Shamblin, a second-year doctoral student in Patton College's Counselor Education Program has been selected for Robert Wood Johnson's Evaluation Fellows Program for Retooling Professionals. The program is aimed at mid-career, non-profit professionals with goal of increasing non-profit organizations' abilities to conduct program evaluations and become better consumers of information. Shamblin, who is Director of Early Childhood Programs for Tri-County Mental Health and Counseling Services and is a current board member of Ohio University's program Integrating Professionals for Appalachian Children (IPAC) will use the fellowship to pursue her interest in research on behalf of early childhood mental health (ECMH) programming, training and policy. She will refine the evaluation of Tri-County's ECMH model and asses the program's effectiveness Shamblin has been a Patton College student three times. First as an undergraduate in 1988, then as a graduate student in 2000 and now as a PhD student. " The college has helped me progress through each stage of my career," she said. "A lot of the framework I used for the Tri-County model I originally conceived as part of my project for Dr. Robinson." She also credits her advisors and supporters in the college, Dr. Davis, Dr. Gut, Dr. Bhat and Dr. Hitchcock.
